The Best Farm Accountants

PKF Mid North has a wealth of experience in the agricultural sector. We understand that in most cases it’s not possible for you to work any harder so the key to being more profitable lies in working smarter.

Our farming programs focus on cashflow monitoring, accounting compliance, budgeting and strategic planning. We’ll work with you to identify tax planning opportunities and to assist you with structuring your affairs to best meet your needs, now and in the future.

We are one of the most established Chartered Accountants practices in the Bay of Islands. Servicing Kerikeri, Kawakawa, Kaikohe and the surrounding districts, we’re actively involved with our local community.

Over the 60 plus years we’ve been here, our company has evolved considerably and in addition to tax and compliance, we offer a wide range of business and advisory services.

One thing that hasn’t changed over the years is our belief that “people matter most”. We work hard to build great relationships and pride ourselves on delivering prompt, cost-effective solutions that help our clients to achieve their goals.

We are also part of the PKF network, a highly-regarded association of over 400 independent accounting practices operating across 150 countries, and can access specialist services when required.

Farming and rural communities need people who are experts in their field and understand the challenges associated with their lifestyle when it comes to accounting and tax.

The team at Duncan Gray Chartered Accountants Limited are experienced accountants for small and medium-sized businesses, specialising in rural accounting for farmers, farm owners, share milkers, contract milkers and anyone involved in the agribusiness sector.

While we specialise in farming accountancy, we also work with small businesses throughout the district including retailers, tradies and truck and tractor drivers, as well as people investing in rental property.

We deliver relevant, timely advice to help businesses fulfil their tax compliance obligations while not paying more tax than they need to.

Get in touch with us if you would like tax advice for your business. Based in Te Awamutu we work with clients across the Waikato region

The Farm Office helps farmers and agribusiness all over New Zealand by taking care of their farm/rural accounts and payroll. We are your virtual farm office where things magically happen on time, every time. We understand how farming works and try to make things as easy as possible for you.

We are here to take time consuming tasks of your hands such as: your payroll and payday filing, loading invoices, checking invoices against statements, invoicing, coding and reconciling your bank accounts, do your GST return, create your cashflow budget and report progress against your budget to you and your bank. We can also help with fuel excise returns and RWT returns.

It is our mission to bring joy back to farming by relieving stress and time pressure, so you can concentrate on what you do best: running your farm.

Our clients are all in the agricultural sector as that is where our passion is. We all have a connection with and interest in farming and most of us have farming experience.

We have a wide range of clients that make our work interesting and challenging; dairy farmers, sharemilkers and contract milkers, sheep, beef & deer stations, orchards, spraying contractors, a wool buyer, a farm consultant and some other interesting sidelines run by our clients.

Coombe Smith was originally established as a Partnership between the Palmerston North Accounting Practice of Brian Smith, and the Marton practice of Bernie Coombe in 1974.

On the retirement of Brian Smith in 1996, Brent Dickins joined the firm after 10 years experience in an International Accounting Practice. From a local farming background, Brent has packaged his practical skills, and applied them to other business sectors. Following significant growth in the practice Brent purchased the Palmerston North Business from the Partnership in 2003. In 2005 Brent teamed up with Ross Barnett and opened an office in Hamilton.

Hamish Pryde joined the firm in 2008 bringing a background in road freight transport, agricultural contracting, farming and many and varied commercial activities. Hamish Pryde has been a Chartered Accountant since 2000 helping clients as the trusted business advisor.

The firm has now collected a diverse range of clients and developed a greater range of products and services to tailor to each individual client’s needs. Along with the traditional accounting services, we have developed a special interest in property development, investment, management and syndications. More recently, we have introduced financial planning, risk reviews and mortgage broking services to meet the greater demands on the modern business owner.
